Classification: Probationary
FLSA Status:  Exempt
Salary Range: $47,573 - $85,165 based on degree and experience. Excellent fringe benefits.

Responsibilities:
• Creates and submits copies of course syllabi by the end of the first week of the course.
• Makes appropriate use of allotted course minutes.
• Requests textbooks and other required course material by deadline.
• Confirms attendance for financial aid purposes by deadline.
• Assignment will include ENG 101 and ENG 102 and may also include a full range of courses within the English discipline.
• Assignment may include a full range of undergraduate courses such as English Composition, both remedial and freshman, and various literature courses.
• Assignment may include day, evening, weekend, off-campus, and/or on-line courses.
• Teaching courses, maintaining scheduled office hours, advising students, developing curriculum and participating in College service, and professional development activities.
• Community service is encouraged.
• Maintains and makes available necessary grade records.
• Participates in student grade appeals procedures as necessary.
• Observes the College calendar.
• Participates in assessment of student learning and assessment reporting.
• Participates in scheduling process by providing preferred schedule and selecting courses by deadlines.
• Participates in course review, program review, and development of programs and courses.
• Attends in-service days.
• Attends division and discipline meetings.
• Attends commencement.
• Submits professional report by deadline.
 
Supervision Received: Reports to the Chief Academic Officer
 
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree or higher in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Literature, Linguistics, or Creative Writing or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Literature, Linguistics, or Creative Writing.
• All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members.
• Experience and/or interest in using multi-media/new instructional technology in the classroom.
• Teaching experience at the community college level preferred.
• Experience and/or interest in assessment, developmental education, and student publications.
• Experience and interest in utilizing Learning Management Systems for course enhancement or delivery.
