The Senior Director, Patient Services Home Health & Hospice is a professional nurse manager who, with direction from the Vice President of Post-Acute Care Services, assesses service operations in relation to compliance with legal, regulatory, and professional standards and organizes indicated operational adjustments.  This position meets the regulatory requirement of employing a Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS). The  Sr Director/DPCS is responsible and accountable for the operations of patient care in all areas of oversite, to include; patient experience, personnel management, fiscal resources, performance improvement, and interdepartmental coordination / collaboration.  The Sr Director/DPCS ensures standards of care are met and that relationship with physicians and all disciplines are collegial; working together to keep the patient and their family at the center of all decisions creating a Patients’ First environment. This is an exempt managerial position and is required by Title XXII.

Required Skills

  • ·         Advanced written, verbal, and non-verbal communication in the English language

    ·         Proficiency in planning, directing, and evaluating department services

    ·         Ability to relate effectively with all levels of the clinical and administrative/financial departments

    ·         Knowledge of data processing and information systems related to a department

    ·         Knowledge of trends, innovations, technology, and reimbursement for departmental clinical and administrative planning

    ·         Knowledge of regulatory requirements (The Joint Commission, Title XXII, OSHA, etc.) on an advanced level

    ·         Intermediate to advanced computer skills


Required Experience

  • Current California RN license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Master of Science in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a Nursing management level position.Current CPR card and current California driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
  • Minimum of three years of experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
  • The Sr Director/DPCS shall have sufficient background knowledge and expertise in clinical decision-making for the patient population of the home health agency to meet the needs of his or her patients, and to contribute to Quality Management review and evaluation. 
  • Current CPR card and current California driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
