Pathologist Assistant at Consolidated Pathology Nashville
The surgical dissection Pathologist’s Assistant implements the laboratory mission, goals and objectives by exemplifying the short and long-term vision, values and goals of the laboratory by providing professional service in the performance of job functions.
Qualifications
- Qualified to conduct high complexity testing which includes grossing of all types of specimens per CLIA regulations
- Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree from a NAACLS accredited training programs or
- Board-registered or eligible for registry as a Pathologists’ Assistant with one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (NCA, ASCP, AMT, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Meets all responsibility requirements established by the Laboratory Administrator and Medical Director.
- Adheres to all requirements of state law.
- Responsible for all aspects of grossing
- Ensures the daily efficient operation of the sectioning in a manner consistent with the [philosophies of the Medical Director and administration, which includes monitoring all competency and proficiency documentation for all surgical dissection personnel.
- Researches and contributes to implementation of new procedures as needed.
- Utilizes protocols and procedures considere3d acceptable by the College of American Pathologists (CAP.)
- Operates, calibrates and maintains all related grossing equipment.
- Ensures that all reagents and solutions are properly prepared, ordered, labeled and stored.
- Performs routine and special grossing procedures on body tissues and/or fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease, processes such specimens according to good practices of clinical laboratory science, and ensures section conforms with licensure requirements regarding grossing limitations.
- Performs all aspects of grossing including qualitative and quantitative procedures utilizing established methods such as specimen processing.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by superiors.
