Scheduler/Insurance Verification Clerk at Midwest Specialty Surgery Center
Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verification Clerk is responsible for maintaining the daily surgery schedule and coordinating all aspects of the scheduling process to ensure efficient operations and exceptional customer service. This role includes scheduling procedures, problem-solving scheduling conflicts, collaborating with physician offices and Operating Room staff, verifying patient insurance coverage, accurately entering patient and insurance information into the appropriate systems, and communicating with insurance carriers and patients to obtain necessary authorizations and resolve coverage-related issues.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays or weekends. Some later evenings required. Competitive salary and benefits for the right candidate.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous billing experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Verifying insurance coverage of each patient
- Handling payments for services not covered by insurance
- Explaining coverages to patients
- Obtaining referrals for patients when they are not covered
- Updating patient information/keeping records
- Filling out documentation required for billing
