Preoperative Screening Nurse (RN)

The Preoperative Screening Nurse has the responsibility for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards, JC, Medicare and all other applicable federal, state and local guidelines. The Preoperative Screening Nurse will interview patients via telephone, review the patient’s online health history with them, complete an assessment of the patient’s medical histories prior to the scheduled admission to Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center.   The Preoperative Screening Nurse will gather necessary information (H&P, EKG, Physician consults, etc.) to assist in the admission planning, pre-admission screening and to provide educational instructions according to Worcester Surgical Center’s guidelines and policies and procedures. He/she will document the explanation of pre-operative instructions to patient or significant other/guardian.  All patients are to be contacted prior to surgery to assess medical, allergy/ medication history, and provide preadmission teaching/instructions.  The nurse will also work closely with the anesthesia department in coordinating the patient’s needs.  The nurse can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients. 

 

Education and Experience

    • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
    • Currently licensed in the state. 
    • BLS required. 
    • Familiarity with perioperative services is preferred.
    • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
    • Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.

Pay Range- Min: $36.22 to Max: $54.33

(Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.)
