PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse

Hyde Park Surgery Center is hiring a PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse

Welcome to Hyde Park Surgery Center
We have 3 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Spine. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse at Hyde Park Surgery Center

Supervises the Preop/PACU staff to provide a daily smooth flow of cases.
Prepares monthly schedules.
Prepare, coordinate and perform monthly staff meetings 
Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and provide efficiency and smooth case flow.
Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
Prepare schedules in the afternoon for next day.
Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment or instruments 
Works closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Dept to coordinate supplies & instrument needs.
Preparing and administering annual evaluations
Works closely with manager with hiring and orienting Preop/PACU staff members
Helps in revising and preparing policies that relate to Preop/PACU functions
Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys
Enters company data collections and observations with company EDGE
MIDAS data entry.
Enters data into Kronos time keeping program
Assistance with staff counseling as necessary
Coordinates and assists in Performance Improvement Projects.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas Nursing License
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. 
  • Minimum One year nursing leadership experience 
  • Minimum of 2- 5 years' experience in Pre-Op/PACU 
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
  • Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
  • Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
  • Excellent teaching skills 
  • Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology
