Patient Advocate at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth:

·       The patient advocate has the responsibility acting as a liaison between the patients’ family and the nursing staff for Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth and Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Outpatient Center. It is his/her responsibility to know where a patient is in the system and to keep the family members informed of the patient’s progress.

Required Skills

Education:      

·       High School Graduate, or equivalent

Licensure/Certification:          

·       BLS, required

 


Required Experience

·       Experience in Public Relations, medical office, patient relations, scheduling a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Good organization habits.

·       Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery process and management of the flow of the surgical patient.

·       Ability to utilize Electronic Health Care Record for patient documentation.

·       Performs effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities.

·       Able to communicate effectively with patients’ families.

·       Able to communicate appropriate information from the doctors and nursing staff.
