RN Coordinator for Pre-op/PACU/PAIN
Under the direct supervision of the Director of PREOP/PACU/PAIN and PAT, the Coordinator is responsible for appropriate staff assignments. The Coordinator is to assure an organized flow of patients through the Pre-op, PACU & PAIN is done in an efficient and timely manner. Responsible for dissemination of information from management to the Pre-op, PACU & PAIN staff and from the Pre-op/PACU/PAIN staff to management.
The PACU nurses are responsible for implementing the Post Anesthesia Care record, nursing care plan and the assimilation of the patient’s hospital record. The PACU nurse is also responsible for implementing all physicians order, providing for the continual evaluation of the patients’ condition, providing patient safety, comfort and privacy at all times.
At times, assist the physicians in procedures and with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate. The pre-op nurse is responsible for implementing all physician orders, providing for the continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patients’ condition, providing patient safety comfort, and privacy at all times. At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate. The pain management nurse is responsible for prepping patients for their procedures, and rotating into the circulating role to assist the pain physician’s with procedures in the procedure room while maintain accurate documentation throughout the procedure.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a hospital setting.
- 2 years PACU experience preferred.
- Current Texas Nursing License.
- Current CPR, ACLS, PALS required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good organization habits.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
- Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics.
- Excellent teaching skills.
