Position Summary
The Clinical Director of Ambulatory Surgical Services is responsible for the day‑to‑day clinical and operational oversight of the operating room and perioperative services. Reporting directly to the Administrator, this leader serves as a key partner in driving clinical excellence, patient safety, staff engagement, and operational efficiency.
The Clinical Director provides strategic direction, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient outcomes while maintaining fiscal responsibility and operational effectiveness.
This role is ideal for an RN with OR and leadership experience who is ready to elevate clinical practice and team performance in an ASC setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee daily operations of the operating room and perioperative services
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, throughput, and patient experience
- Ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes
Strategic Planning & Financial Stewardship
- Devise and execute clinical department strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth
- Manage departmental budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation
- Promote fiscal accountability while maintaining quality and compliance
Team Leadership & Development
- Assign cases and create staff schedules to support safe and efficient operations
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
- Support employee development through training and continuing education opportunities
Compliance, Quality & Risk Management
- Monitor compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements
- Oversee staff credentialing, competency validation, and ongoing education
- Lead preventative safety initiatives and risk management efforts
- Collaborate on policy development and revision to support best practices
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Leadership experience in an ASC or perioperative setting strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Operating Room operations
- Pre‑operative and post‑operative care
- Staff supervision and performance management
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, accreditation, and surgical best practices
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive positive change
