Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas is seeking a qualified Pharmacy Tech to join our team!!

 

Pharmacy Tech at Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas:

 

  • Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility in the re-stocking of Automated Dispensing Machines, unit-dose packaging, stocking inventory, setting up crash cart and emergency boxes; maintaining appropriate records and charges for Baylor Scott and White Surgical Hospital Las Colinas; compounding sterile products, and assisting in related activities as directed by the Director of Pharmacy or Pharmacist on duty.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician training program,

Licensure/Certification                                                                             

  • Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician, required
  • PTCB Certification, required
  • ACPE Sterile Product Preparation Certification, required.
  • BLS, preferred.

 


Required Experience

Specific Job Experience

  • Minimum two years pharmacy technician experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience with Automated Dispensing Devices; Pyxis preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record Systems; Cerner preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have the mathematical ability to calculate dosages and amounts required for compounding.
  • Competent in pharmacy computer programs and word entry programs

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately fills physician surgical preference cards and inpatient medication orders.
  • Holds all filled medications in the pharmacy until a pharmacist has completed a check.
  • Distributes medications only under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Receives stock orders from wholesalers and vendors.
  • Re-stocks the pharmacy and communicates when items are running low or expiring.
  • Accurately replaces medications to the Automated Dispensing Devices.
  • Accurately compounds both sterile and non-sterile pharmaceuticals including repackaging, adhering to all USP 797 rules and regulations for compounding.
  • Adheres to strict accounting measures of all controlled substances and drug security measures.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing, taking accurate telephone messages.
  • Maintains the security of the pharmacy at all times.
