Job Summary:

This position is accountable for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Surgical Services to include, the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Surgery Scheduling, and Radiology. Maintains and participates in performance improvement activities within the department. Reviews Anesthesia Contracts in conjunction with the CEO.

 

 

 


Required Skills

Essential Functions: 

  •  Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the administrative and operational function of the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Surgery Scheduling, and Radiology.
  • Assumes 24- hour responsibility for the administrative and operational functions of the Surgical Services areas.
  • Assists surgeons in operations through provision of qualified staff; formulates a schedule which provides staff available for all procedures.
  • Consults with the Chief Nurse Officer on nursing concerns and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Defines and ensures compliance with standards of patient care and nursing practice
  • Plans and organizes departmental activities to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instruction of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and hospital administrative procedures

  • Knowledge and proficiency of hospital information technology applications.
  • Must be familiar to with CMS, CDPH, and Joint Commission Guidelines.
  • Responsible for the management of the block schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 


Required Experience

Required Licenses:

  •  Current California Registered Nursing License.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • ACLS and BLS Certified.
  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in surgical nursing.
  • Two (2) years of nursing management experience preferred.

Salary range: 

$65.00 - $81.00 (Depending on Experience)
