Northwest Portland ASC is looking for a Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) - full time to join our team!

 

Northwest Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a multi-specialty, ambulatory surgical center located in the northwest section of Portland, OR.   We believe health and care are inseparable. Job Summary: Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the OR and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations. Functions as an RN First Assistant during operative and other invasive procedures and throughout the perioperative continuum in accordance with scope of practice credentials, privileges, experience, education, and competency verification. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries
  • Prepare patients for surgery
  • Provide patient care and support
  • Administer medications
  • Practice surgical procedures such as controlling bleeding and suturing incisions, draping, providing exposure, and handling tissue
  • Prepare all necessary supplies
  • Position and prepare the patient on the operating table
  • Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required

Required Skills

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and an accredited RNFA program.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification
  • Current registered nurse licensure in Oregon
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a RNFA required.
  • Can perform scrub and circulating nurse roles.
  • Previous experience in Ambulatory Surgery strongly preferred.
  • Basic and advanced preoperative training, operating room experience required.
  • Excellent understanding of multiple surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • BLS and ACLS certification accredited by AHA
