USPI South Texas Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated Chief Nursing Officer to join our team. We have 25 Beds and 8 OR rooms and 3 ER Rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Orthopedic, Spine.
Job Summary: The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) provides executive leadership for all nursing and clinical services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care. This role is responsible for clinical excellence, staffing strategy, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement across the organization. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CNO partners with physicians, administrators, and the governing board to advance the hospital’s mission, strategic goals, and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing and clinical departments
- Ensure safe, effective, and compliant patient care through evidence-based nursing practice
- Develop and manage nursing staffing models, budgets, and resource allocation
- Lead quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
- Partner with physicians, executive leadership, and the governing board on strategy and operations
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice
- Oversee talent development, performance management, and employee engagement
- Integrate current research and best practices into nursing care delivery
- Represent nursing services in medical staff, executive, and board meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (required)
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting
- Proven leadership over multiple, complex nursing or clinical departments
- Surgical background/leadership experience required
- CNO experience and surgical hospital experience preferred
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
