Surgery Scheduler/Medical Assistant

Aloe Surgery Center is hiring a full time Surgery Scheduler/Medical Assistant.

Job Summary: The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all patients for the surgery center.  The position has significant communication requirements with practice offices.  The job requires excellent communication skills to build collegial relationships with surgeons, patients and staff.  The position may also require assisting with insurance verification and/or other areas key to the continuity of patient care.

 

Job Responsibilities and Major Duties:

Coordination of Center Schedule

  • Schedules all surgical procedures, including overall coordination of schedule
  • Promotes Every Day Giving Excellence “EDGE” within the facility by ensuring high quality clinical care, including scheduling the correct procedure, correct site and implants every time.
  • Obtains and enters all necessary information from surgeon or scheduler requesting OR time
  • Coordinates instruments and equipment for each procedure, including understanding limitations and requirements
  • Works with Administrator, Director of Nursing and other center leaders to manage block time
  • Allows adequate time for each procedure including individual physician requests, room turnover
  • Identifies & implements solutions that improve scheduling efficiency and practice
  • Effectively manages block time, including utilization, potential efficiencies and communication with physician offices to identify solutions
  • Assists other employees and with other duties as required

Also will perform Medical Assistant duties when needed:

  •  MA will help assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a RN.          
  •  Interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and record information on patients' charts.
  •  Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. 
  •  Assist patient through pre-op care including prepping, dressing removal,

Required Skills

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical environment preferred
  • 2-3 years of scheduling experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English
  • Basic typing and computer experience
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or related certification
  •
