A Hospital Facility Safety Manager ensures a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors by developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies, fire safety, and environmental regulations like OSHA, DNV, and NFPA. Inspect facilities, conduct risk assessments, train personnel on safety protocols, and investigate incidents to prevent future hazards.
Essential Functions:
- Regulatory Compliance & Auditing: Interpreting and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DNV, and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) regulations. Conducts regular safety rounds, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Participate in development and tracking of performance metrics and KPIs.
- Incident Investigation: Investigating accidents, injuries, or property damage, documenting findings, and implementing corrective actions. Coordinates corrective actions for survey findings and internal audits.
- Participates in construction risk assessments (ICRA/PCRA/ILSM).
- Safety Training: Developing and conducting safety training sessions, orientations, and seminars for employees.
- Environmental Safety: Monitoring facility conditions (e.g., air quality, equipment safety) to prevent accidents. The Safety Manager serves as the organization’s subject-matter expert for patient, staff, and visitor safety and leads proactive risk identification, mitigation strategies, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership on reviewing policies and procedures related to EOC hospital safety program.
- Use electronic database for compliance related functions such as assigning tasks, tracking completion and developing reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- High School diploma or GED – relevant experience required.
- Certifications such as CHSP, CHEP, CHFM are preferred.
- Hospital experience with DNV or The Joint Commission.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of Computerized Management System (CMMS) database applications preferred.
- Analytical skills to comprehend and interpret complex regulations, perform data analysis, and the ability to communicate results to others.
- Strong interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, organizational skills, and project management skills.
- Possesses effective written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Must successfully pass criminal background check.
- Must complete and/or take all required health screenings and vaccines.
