Lead SPD Tech

USPI South Plains Endoscopy Center is seeking a motivated Lead SPD Tech to join our team. We have 1 OR room, 3 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Gastroenterology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Administrator / Clinician Director, coordinates and oversees the daily activities between the Operating Room (OR), schedule and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure efficient case flow and needs.
 
Supervise the Sterile Processing Department Staff
Clinical resource for perioperative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards
Evaluate current practice through quality and performance improvement measures
Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders
Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change with in the health care organization
Ensure that the appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available to run the SPD department effectively
Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care
Serve as role model of professional behavior
Assess the political climate within the organization
Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization

Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED
CBSPD or IACHSMM required
Completion of a Sterile Process Certification program is preferred
2 years of Team lead experience or equivalent 5 years experience as an SPD Tech with progression through the department
Knowledge of medical instruments and surgical procedures as related to the OR
Knowledge of the proper set up of an operating room
