• Perform noninvasive vascular studies, including but not limited to:
i. Venous and arterial duplex examinations (upper and lower extremities)
ii. Carotid duplex studies
• Anticipates surgeon/physician’s needs both in preparing for procedures and during procedure
• Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
• Perform non-invasive vascular tests including ultrasound and Doppler studies
• Evaluate images and data to identify abnormalities and assist in diagnosis
• Collaborate with physicians to interpret test results and develop treatment plans
• Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings for medical staff review
• Educate patients about procedures and answer their questions to alleviate concerns
• Keep accurate records of performed procedures and patient data
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations
• Stay updated with the latest techniques and technologies in vascular imaging
• Obtain and document accurate patient histories relevant to the ordered study.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explaining exams and addressing patient questions or concerns.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound and vascular diagnostic equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure optimal image acquisition, measurements, and waveform documentation for physician interpretation.
• Adhere to infection control, safety and HIPAA policies at all times.
• Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement and accreditation activities. (CMS, Joint Commission, etc…)
• Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and ensure appropriate supplies are stocked.
• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical records to include completing documentation for incoming CDs, uploading discs, logging imaging exams in the system, requesting medical records as needed.
• Gathers patient information by collecting demographic information from a variety of source: interacting with the registration areas and physicians’ offices; retrieving information from systems.
• Serves as a resources to other members of the team.
• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
• Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team.
• Attends in-services, conferences, and meetings as required.
• Uses facilities resources appropriately, avoid wasteful practices and analyzes work area to make recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements.
• Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy/procedure noncompliance to the safety officer or other designated person.
• Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences. Accepts challenging opportunities, responsibilities.
• Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
• Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
• Complies with Policies and Procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
• High school diploma or GED certification.
• Completion of an approved vascular technology and/or School of Diagnostic Sonography.
• Preferred: Diagnostic Ultrasonography by ARDNS or ARRT.
• Current Licensure or Certification from a recognized accrediting body such as ARDMS, ARRT or CCI.
• Experience with advanced vascular imaging techniques
• Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment and software
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• ACLS certification
• Proficiency with IVIS procedures
• Proficiency in using ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging equipment
• Strong understanding of vascular diseases and diagnostic criteria
• Ability to follow detailed protocols and procedures
• Experience in a clinical healthcare setting is preferred
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and technical skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities
