The Surgery Center at Flagstaff Bone & Joint performed their first cases on April 17, 2020. The surgery center, located at 501 N. Switzer Canyon Drive in Flagstaff, is an independent, physician-owned ambulatory surgery center with doctors specializing in bone and joint conditions.
The Surgery Center at Flagstaff Bone & Joint is a 9,000-square-foot facility with two operating rooms and one procedure room. It has been designed to offer advanced orthopaedic surgical technologies and techniques as well as state-of-the-art nonsurgical treatments that will allow patients to return to the comfort of their home the same day of their procedures.

Some of the common orthopaedic procedures that will be performed at the facility include:
- Joint replacements, including partial and total knee replacement, total hip replacement and shoulder replacement.
- Hand procedures, such as carpal tunnel release, De Quervain’s release, trigger finger release and ulnar nerve release.
- Sports medicine surgery, including ACL reconstruction and arthroscopy for minimally invasive repairs, fracture care, ligament repair, meniscectomy, orthobiologics, and rotator cuff repair.
- Spine and pain management procedures, including interventional spine injections, artificial disc replacement, kyphoplasty, laminectomy, microdiscectomy and the latest, proven techniques in cervical and lumbar spine fusion.
Job Summary:
The Materials Manager is responsible for the process, which includes inventory control: ordering all medical supplies, maintaining an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies, receiving and stocking of all medical supplies to their assigned area. Provides support to the surgical team and provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility. Communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities designated by the manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinates receiving, processing, distributing, and storing of supplies
- Ensures healthy flow throughout supply chain
- Monitor and manage repairs of equipment
- Maintains and coordinates the inventory system
- Performs other duties as requested by management
- Financial analysis as required to support department goals
- Effectively coordinates with the clinical and business managers, administrative director, physicians and ancillary departments on all issues relating to patient care and specialty requirements and coordinates procurement of specialty equipment as indicated
- Plans, coordinates and manages all functions associated with Materials Management Supply

Required Skills
Qualifications:
- Previous 1-2 year in Materials Management experience and/or experience as a scrub tech, Central Supply tech.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to assist with contract management
- General understanding of medical supply equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
