Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced OR Charge Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. In this role, you will provide leadership in the operating room, ensuring patient safety, coordinating surgical team activities, and supporting optimal workflow throughout procedures. The ideal candidate combines strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced OR environment effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the OR Charge RN, overseeing daily surgical operations and ensuring smooth workflow across multiple ORs
  • Provide direct patient care and act as the circulating nurse during operative procedures
  • Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure according to safety protocols
  • Prepare, position, and monitor patients throughout surgery
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists to maintain an efficient and safe OR environment
  • Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection control standards
  • Accurately document intraoperative care and any relevant charge RN observations
  • Mentor and support OR staff, facilitating orientation and ongoing education
  • Support a wide range of surgical specialties, including Bariatrics, Gastroenterology (Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, EGD), General Surgery, Gynecology, Ophthalmology (including Retina), Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Otology (including Cochlear Implantation), Pain Management, Spine, and Urology

Qualifications

  • Current RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 3–5 years of perioperative experience, preferably in a multi-specialty OR setting
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage staff assignments, workflow, and OR priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of perioperative nursing experience, preferably in multi-specialty ORs
  • Proven charge nurse experience: managing staff assignments, workflow, and OR coordination
  • Exposure to various surgical specialties to support diverse procedural needs
