Folsom Surgery Center is seeking a motivated full time Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) to join our team.

Immediately hiring Pre Admission Testing Registered Nurse

Job Title:  Pre Admission Testing Registered Nurse

Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and administrative staff to manage patient information and needs. 

performs a verbal assessment with the patient prior to surgery

admission via a phone interview as well as collects the patient’s medical history from previous medical records. The nurse

also works closely with the anesthesia department and the Surgeon's office in

coordinating the patient’s needs.

making advanced assessments of the patient’s physical and psycho-social needs.

The Pre Admission Nurse (PAT RN) has the responsibility for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards, The Joint Commission, Medicare, and all other applicable federal, state, and local guidelines. The PAT RN may assume the following PAT responsibilities: contact, by way of telephone, all patients prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history, review for appropriate lab, x-ray, EKG orders, and medical clearances to determine that patient and procedure are appropriate candidates for the ambulatory surgical setting. Preadmission teaching is required. The RN can expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients 12 months of age or older. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following.  Other duties may be assigned: 

She/he is

skilled in physical assessment related to peri-anesthetic care which includes respiratory management, pain management,

and patient teaching. 

She/he is skilled in physical assessment related to pre-surgical state of a patient

She/he is skilled in problem solving and emergency intervention. 

She/he has a strong interest in education 

Perform verbal assessment with patient prior to admission via telephone, communicating information
to appropriate team members.

Education Minimum

Preferred Bachelors of Science in Nursing

Work Experience Minimum Six (6) months of experience in Pre/Post Op or PACU

Preferred One (1) year of experience in pediatric Pre/Post Op or PACU

Licenses & Certifications Minimum Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of CA

BLS Certified

CPR certified

PALS certified


Excellent communication skills both via telephone and in person

• Possess a good working knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and legal aspects of

nursing, and techniques, care and use of equipment used in a surgery setting

• Possess strong computer skills and experience with health care applications,

Microsoft and/or Windows applications

• Ability to work in a self-directed environment and prioritize with little supervision

• Ability to independently solve problems in a positive, results-oriented manner

• Demonstrated ability to apply organizational skills to facilitate a smooth flow of

workload

• Telephone voice/speech pattern is articulate and has a pleasant tone

• Demonstrates professionalism and ability to work as part of a team

• Demonstrates high quality customer service to patients, families, physicians, and

coworkers
