Job Summary 

The Materials Management Tech has excellent communication and organizational skills, and has the ability to perform work requiring a high degree of accuracy.  They must have the ability to work and react quickly, multi-task and be an integral team member within the Materials Management department.  They collaborate with all other hospital departments, vendors, physicians, and home office employees.  They work closely with the departmental Director to achieve meeting facility goals.   

·         Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and maintaining par levels for all supplies.

·         Ensures utilization of USPI’s national agreements.

·         Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow-up and delivery of all orders.

·         Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates within the inventory system.

·         Receives all incoming supply and equipment items.

·         Checks supplies for expiration, labels accordingly and regularly rotates stock.

·         Conducts bi-annual physical inventory of implants and supply items.

·         Answers phone calls while displaying courteous behavior. Screens and/or routes all calls to appropriate individual.

·         Manages delivery receipt discrepancies within 48 hours unless waiting further information on clarification.

·         Works closely with Accounts Payable to achieve smooth invoice processing and payment.

·         Process in-house equipment repairs as needed.

·         Review receiving errors and/or work back orders.

·         Greets and assists all vendor representatives. Ensures that the vendor rep signs in and receives vendor badge. Contact department for permission for rep to visit.

·         Performs all other duties assigned by the Director of Materials Mgmt. Assists in other areas with a willing attitude.

 

Qualifications

·  Two years minimum healthcare environment experience preferred

Education                                                                                                                                                        

·  High School Diploma or equivalent required

·  Knowledge of medical terminology and supplies/vendors preferred
