As a Surgical Scrub Tech, you will play an important role in supporting our surgical team during operative procedures. You’ll be responsible for preparing operating rooms, ensuring instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning properly, assisting surgeons and nurses during cases, and maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment. Your role directly supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate care to every patient.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and functioning.
  • Assists surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures, anticipating needs and providing instruments, sutures, and supplies as required.
  • Ensures proper cleaning, sterilization, and handling of surgical instruments and equipment according to infection control standards.
  • Monitors and maintains surgical instruments and equipment, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Adheres to infection control, safety, and sterile technique in all aspects of patient care and equipment handling.
  • Assists with specimen collection, labeling, and verification in collaboration with the surgeon and nursing staff.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date surgeon preference cards and surgical supply inventories.
  • Ensures all instruments and accessories are properly processed, stored, and readily available for use.
  • Transports surgical instruments and equipment to and from sterilization/reprocessing areas, assisting with cleaning and assembly as needed.
  • Participates in emergency preparedness drills and responds appropriately in urgent situations.
  • Interacts respectfully and effectively with patients, surgeons, nurses, and staff of all backgrounds.
  • Communicates courteously and maintains patient, physician, and staff confidentiality per policy.
  • Attends in-services, meetings, and training sessions as required.
  • Maintains current certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  • Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
  • Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Required Skills

  • Ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards
  • Handling surgical instruments, sutures, and specimens properly
  • Candidates must hold a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or be certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) to be considered for this position.
