Community Hospital is hiring a PRN Patient Care Tech - Outpatient Surgery!

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, performs delegated direct patient care activities to an assigned group of patients. Performs a variety of tasks including phlebotomy, electrocardiogram, cleaning of care areas, stocking, disposal of linen and supply materials to ensure assigned areas are kept clean and adequately supplied. Always works as a team member within the entire facility. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Provides care to patients on the Surgery unit according to policy and procedure and care standards.
- Ability to take direction from others and follow through in a concise manner, which also promotes efficiency.
- Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, etc.
- Ability to set priorities.
- Acts to protect and advance patient’s best interest.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment, expected patient outcome, and anticipated complications.
- Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties.
PCT I Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- One year experience in a medical area preferred.
- AHA BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified.
PCT II Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- One year experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Completion of two semesters of clinical RN nursing courses OR AUA certification and completion of a formalized phlebotomy and EKG training program OR one year experience as a CNA or NA and completion of formalized training phlebotomy and EKG training preferred.
- AHA BLS healthcare required within 30 days of hire, if not currently certified.
