Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Main Street is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate and timely verification of patient insurance coverage, helping our patients have a smooth experience from the very start of their care.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for scheduled procedures using payer portals, telephone calls, and electronic verification systems.
  • Confirm patient demographics, insurance information, and procedure details to ensure claim accuracy.
  • Calculate patient financial responsibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts, and communicate this information to patients.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals prior to procedures.
  • Document all verification activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) system according to center policies.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, billing, and clinical teams to resolve insurance-related issues quickly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer guidelines and policy changes.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related coursework preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or a related healthcare administrative role.
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or hospital setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans.

Required Skills
