The referral coordinator performs a variety of customer service, sales, and marketing duties focused on patient referrals to the clinic. The referral coordinator typically develops contacts and oversees community outreach services. You also have administrative responsibilities, such as conducting meetings, making routine visits to facilities, and collaborating with office managers and other staff to ensure all referral practices are being followed.
The job may also include: answering phone calls, verifying insurance, and marketing. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers calls to the physician's line.
- Works with referring physicians to coordinate care of patients in the scheduling office appointments or procedures.
- Ensures patient charts are complete with referring physician notes and testing.
- Handles the medical records requests for incoming referrals of existing patients.
- Ensures all hospital procedure patient charts are complete with procedure notes and pathology reports.
- Works the orders queue to ensure all medical records requests ordered by physicians are obtained.
- Assists in maintaining incoming faxes are filed appropriately.
- Assists patients with questions and scheduling of outside referrals.
Pay range: Min $22.00 - Max $28.00

Required Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in the healthcare industry.
- Experience with insurance preferred.
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
- Excellent typing and computer usage skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other medical professionals.
- Ability to track and analyze sales data.
