Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Frisco is hiring a Pathology Liaison / Laboratory Full-time, Day Shift

  • Pick-up specimens from Surgery drop off area. 
  • Check all specimens for accuracy, 
     - Paperwork, specimens, containers.
     - Specimen in EMR, matches what was sent.
  • Make corrections or notify RN to make changes as needed on specimens and paperwork.
  • Prepare monthly pre-analytical report for Pathology.
  • Prepare monthly pre-analytical report for entry on the Lab PI Project Report.  
  • Enter Midas as needed.
  • Prepare all specimens for transport to MD Pathology. 
  • Order and put away all pathology supplies, including for OR. 
  • Notify MD Pathology of scheduled frozen.
  • Supply MD Pathology surgery schedule for each day. 
  • Prepare for, set up, help process and clean up for frozen section procedures. 
  • Order, maintain, and prepare all stains and reagents for procedures.
  • Scan all requisitions, logs, and final charges into appropriate folders.  
  • Put in all charges for Pathology, and check for add on charges. 
  • Write, maintain, and update policies and procedures for Pathology. 
  • Maintain and log temperatures for Pathology. Monitors maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and equipment.
  • Keep record of number of specimens sent to MD Pathology. 
  • Prepare Products of Conception paperwork for send out.
  • Prepare and send out kidney/bladder stones to reference lab.
  • Post on-call schedules of pathologists for Surgery and Lab. 
  • Retrieve OP reports/histories or other reports for pathologists as requested. 
  • Teach RNs how to prepare Pathology paperwork and specimens. 
  • Prepare CAP Checklist notebook. 
  • Participates in the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis either through direct patient contact or by advising nursing and medical staffs of the proper procedure for collection of such specimens.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Lab and Pathology experience
  • CPR required
  • Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standard
  • Ability to detect color and color changes
