Pharmacist at Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery
Following physicians’ orders, the Pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals. Position responsibilities include:
- Determines and consults on possible drug interactions.
- Assists in the supervision and training of pharmacy personnel.
- Participates in Drug Utilization Review.
- Assists with quality improvement initiatives, inventory and ordering of pharmaceuticals.
- Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Fulfills responsibilities of Pharmacy Manager in their absence.

Required Skills
- Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Tennessee
- BLS/CPR required
- One-year experience preferred
- Hospital experience preferred
- Demonstrate competent knowledge of the development needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
- Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs
