Job Summary: The Admissions Supervisor oversees the daily activities of the Admission department to ensure departmental standards and goals are met. This position manages admission area activities to promote effective communication throughout the Facility. The Admissions Supervisor is expected to develop a culture of customer service excellence by ensuring that the admission team is consistent in delivering a positive customer service experience at all times. The Admissions Supervisor registers patients with a high degree of demographic accuracy and performs audits to ensure the same level of accuracy is upheld by admission team members. 

Responsibilities: 

• Admits patients to the Facility following the established policies and procedures.
• Organizes and supervises all work performed by the admission department.
• Completes audits to ensure all registrars are registering patients with a high degree of demographic accuracy.
• Educates admission staff of any changes pertinent to the department. 
• Ensures that the admission team is meeting all departmental goals. Motivates team to achieve performance measures. 
• Partners with Manager to formulate short term and long term departmental goals. 
• Creates solutions to improve the level of service that will improve patient satisfaction scores. Escalates any unusual and/or difficult situations impacting the level of service as needed.
• Develops a culture of customer service excellence by ensuring that the admission team is consistent in delivering a positive customer service experience at all times.
• Provides resolution of all customer service issues in a timely and professional manner. Provides assistance in managing escalated issues as needed.
• Collaborates with all departments to appropriately communicate issues or barriers to formulate work plans for resolution.
• Provides communication to employees regarding organizational initiatives and correspondence. 
• Can cite the vision and values of the organization and creates opportunities to incorporate these into the department. 
• Works in collaboration with all areas of the revenue cycle to identify and resolve issues and or barriers.
• Relieves staff members during their vacation/sick time.
• Manages admission team schedule. 
• Ensures all department policies and procedures are followed. 
• Performs recruiting and hiring functions. Provides training and competency evaluation of team members as it relates to specific job functions and responsibilities.
• Works closely with nursing and ancillary departments in effort to maintain a teamwork approach.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 5 years of patient admission experience 
• Thorough knowledge of insurance verification process required
• Excellent communication skills required 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications which includes Excel and Power Point
• Ability to problem solve
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
