We specialize in a variety of outpatient procedures across multiple specialties in a supportive and team-driven environment. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Sterile Processing Technician to join our team.


Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the availability of clean, sterilized, and properly functioning instruments and equipment for surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will be organized, safety-focused, and knowledgeable in sterilization processes and infection control standards.


Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves, washers, ultrasonic cleaners)
  • Monitor and document sterilization cycles according to regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain accurate instrument counts and ensure timely turnaround of instrument trays
  • Collaborate with the OR team to ensure surgical cases are properly equipped and prepared
  • Adhere to strict infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on sterilization and decontamination equipment
  • Assist with inventory control and restocking of sterile supplies

Required Skills

  • Proficient in instrument decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization processes
  • Strong understanding of infection control standards, AAMI guidelines, and sterilization protocols
  • Familiarity with a wide range of surgical instruments and trays across various specialties
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced clinical environments and adapting to changing priorities
  • Effective communicator and team player, collaborating closely with OR staff to support case readiness
  • Capable of maintaining accurate records and documentation related to sterilization cycles and inventory

Required Experience

  • Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program or equivalent on-the-job experience required
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD or CRCST) preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing or central supply, preferably in a surgical setting
  • Familiarity with surgical instrumentation across multiple specialties (e.g., Orthopedics, ENT, General Surgery, GI, etc.)
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control protocols, and safety standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
