USPI Spicewood Surgery Center in Austin, TX is seeking a motivated Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verifier to join our team. We have 2 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Pain Management. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

Job Summary: The Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verifier plans and schedules for surgical and related appointments for doctors, responsible for verifying benefits and eligibility via insurance portals or via phone and entering patient information and insurance coverage into the patient account system. Duties will also include communicating with patients on their out-of-pocket expenses'. Calling physician offices, insurance carriers to get updates on authorizations and pre-certifications prior to surgical procedures.
Job Duties:
- Scheduling
- Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance carriers.
- Schedule surgeries, coordinates schedule between Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
- Gathers all detailed information for the patient's chart, such as type of procedure, supplies, special equipment required, insurance information, etc. Enters all patient information in computer system.
- Schedules all surgical anesthesia services required according to doctor preference and availability.
- Verifies patient insurance benefits by contacting insurance companies and interpretation of managed care contracts. Determines pre-certification requirements
- Verify insurance benefits by reviewing our contract and patient’s quoted benefits.
- Determine co-pay. Post all insurance and billing comments. Enter all information into patient accounting system.
- Contact patients regarding moneys due prior to date of surgery.
- Assists patients with credit agreements (Care Credit).
- Determine patient responsibility for cash payment based on reimbursement and account reviews.
- Review financial records for correctness.
- Attach correct documentation to verification sheets and delivering to appropriate staff.

Required Skills
Qualifications:
- High School education and/or equivalent
- Must have at least TWO YEARS direct experience with experience scheduling surgeries
- Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance verification and estimates
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
