Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse (Part-Time)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Op/PACU team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced surgical setting, demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills, and is passionate about providing exceptional patient care before and after procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the pre-operative and post-anesthesia care unit

  • Assess patient status, provide education, and ensure safe transitions pre- and post-procedure

  • Administer medications and monitor vital signs according to clinical protocols

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all patient care activities

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia staff, and surgical team to ensure patient safety and comfort


Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state of Texas
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • High level of professionalism and ability to maintain composure in urgent/emergent situations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and documentation workflows in surgical settings

Preferred Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in a Pre-Op and/or PACU setting preferred
  • Prior experience in ambulatory surgery centers or GI/endoscopy procedures is a plus
  • Solid understanding of patient recovery protocols and pain management practices

Required Skills

  • Strong assessment and critical-thinking abilities in pre-op and recovery settings
  • Proficient in patient monitoring, including vitals, sedation recovery, and pain management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • EMR proficiency and accurate clinical documentation
  • Competence in IV placement, medication administration, and emergency response

Required Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN license in the state of Texas (required)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (required or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience preferred, ideally in Pre-Op, PACU, or ambulatory surgery
  • Experience in GI/endoscopy procedures is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care in a high-acuity outpatient setting
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with surgical and anesthesia teams
