Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for to the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private Inpatient rooms, a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Uptown is currently seeking a Nursing House Supervisor for a full time, night shift position.

The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse, who under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, assumes responsibility for the supervision of the hospital during their shift. The Nursing House Supervisor works closely with nursing leadership to coordinate ongoing continuity of care in those departments in the absence of the direct supervisor.

  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and physicians to ensure optimal patient care
  • Promotes a positive working environment in the hospital
  • Ensure services maintain compliance with the standards of practice for the departments as well as regulatory and/or accreditation agencies
  • Collaborates with Senior Management in meeting facility goals.
  • Enforce policies, procedures and processes for nursing unites and assist in revising when appropriate
  • Adjusts staffing levels in all clinical departments according to patient acuity, census, goals/metrics and special needs
  • Functions as a surge and knowledge resource to all clinical departments
  • Serves as a Telemetry Monitor Tech on Post-Surgical Unit
  • Assists with direct and indirect patient care as needed including laboratory
  • Facilitate Clinical and Administrative audits as well as conducts special projects for performance improvement/lean management
  • Respond and direct activities in all hospital “codes”
  • Ensure employees practice safety in all departments
  • Act as the incident commander in the event of an internal or external disaster
  • Communicates with clinical and other department leaders and hospital administration regarding incidents, interventions and decisions made

Required Skills

  • Graduate of professional school of nursing
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Three years of acute clinical nursing experience
  • Previous experience in a formal leadership role such as charge nurse or supervisor
  • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse
  • Certified and/or have documented competency in critical care/intensive care nursing
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS
