Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment to support high-quality patient care at the Laser & Surgery Center of Palm Beaches. The technician ensures that all instrumentation is properly processed in accordance with industry standards and facility protocols, playing a critical role in infection prevention and surgical efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:

Decontaminate, clean, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays, and medical equipment.

Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment per manufacturer and facility guidelines.

Conduct quality assurance checks to verify the integrity and cleanliness of all instruments before release.

Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological tests, and equipment maintenance.

Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure availability and timely delivery of sterile instruments.

Monitor and manage inventory of sterile supplies and surgical sets, reporting discrepancies or restocking needs.

Adhere to all infection control, safety, and compliance protocols including OSHA and AAMI standards.

Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and technology in sterile processing.
Required Skills
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing or central supply preferred (ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus).

Knowledge of infection control standards and sterilization techniques.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift instrument trays up to 25 lbs.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
