Position Summary:

SurgCenter Camelback is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all clinical nursing operations at our ambulatory surgery center. The DON is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. This leadership position will manage nursing staff, develop clinical protocols, and collaborate with physicians and administrative leadership to uphold the mission and standards of SurgCenter Camelback.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all clinical and nursing services in the surgery center.

  • Supervise pre-op, intra-op, and post-op nursing functions to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations (e.g., CMS, AAAHC, OSHA).

  • Hire, train, evaluate, and manage nursing staff; foster a positive and accountable team culture.

  • Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.

  • Oversee patient safety initiatives, quality improvement programs, and risk management efforts.

  • Manage nursing schedules to ensure adequate coverage for surgical cases.

  • Participate in and lead regular clinical meetings, quality audits, and patient safety reviews.

  • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to meet clinical and operational needs.

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies and ensure cost-effective resource management.

  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, administration, and external stakeholders.


Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Arizona, in good standing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in an ASC, hospital OR, or surgical services setting.

  • Strong knowledge of ASC regulatory and accreditation standards (AAAHC, CMS, OSHA, HIPAA).

  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage clinical teams and collaborate with multidisciplinary departments.

  • ACLS and BLS certification required.
