As part of the Memorial Hermann Health System and United Surgical Partners International (USPI), we prioritize efficient, safe, and patient-centered care in a collaborative team environment.
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Verifier to join our front-end business operations team. This role is key to ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience by verifying insurance coverage and benefits ahead of scheduled procedures.
What You’ll Do:
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for upcoming procedures
- Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations and pre-certifications
- Accurately enter and update patient insurance information in our system
- Communicate with patients regarding their coverage details, deductibles, and estimated out-of-pocket costs
- Collaborate with schedulers, front office staff, and clinical teams to quickly resolve insurance-related issues
- Identify and escalate discrepancies or denials for resolution prior to surgery
- Maintain thorough and organized documentation of all verification activities
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Proficiency with medical terminology and insurance processes
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort working with confidential information and following HIPAA guidelines
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–2 years of insurance verification or medical billing experience preferred
- Experience in a surgical or ambulatory care setting is a plus
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Basic computer skills and experience with EMR or practice management software
