Administrative Assistant at St. Thomas Surgery Center – Midtown
Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for covering many aspects of the business office necessary and will provide support and back up for personnel by performing duties to include the following;
- Greeting patients and completing their check-in process/admissions
- Provides support to administrative office staff assuring a smooth departmental work flow
- Responsible for performing daily tasks such as sorting mail, assembling charts, collecting payments, answering phone and routing incoming calls, filing, copying, data entry, and other similar duties while using a computer terminal
- Provides direction and assistance to patients, family members, and co-workers in a courteous and positive manner
- Relieves office staff of clerical work, and minor administrative and business detail
- Maintaining current demographic and insurance information in computer and in the chart
- Filing and maintenance of documents in the medical record, paper and in electronic storage.

Required Experience
- Must possess a High School Diploma or higher
- A working knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum 1-2 years of medical front desk and medical records experience required
- Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand and volume
- Must be detail oriented and communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner
