The Materials Management Tech is responsible for procuring all hospital supplies except food and drugs. The position’s responsibilities include receiving, stocking, and case-pulling supplies and assisting Accounts Payable with receivers. Other duties are assigned by the Materials Manager.
- Performs receiving and shipping of materials and equipment, staging incoming and out-going supplies and equipment, stock put-away and rotation, cycle-counting, PAR and requisition replenishment, order filling and delivery to user departments throughout the facility.
- Replenishes PAR managed supplies in correct bin locations, rotates stock and checks expiration date.
- Ensures accurate and timely replenishment processes and works effectively with clinical departments to address supply requirements.
- Responsible for the daily surgical case pulling and monitors schedule for add on cases.
- Makes updates stock file as needed to maintain an accurate database.
- Participates in quarterly inventory, assuring accurate counts.
- Attends hospital and department in-services and meetings when required.
- Demonstrates discretionary ability in establishing priorities.
- Enforces good housekeeping practices daily to eliminate congestion, clutter, and safety hazards and maintains a neat and orderly appearance of the dock, receiving, and staging areas. The Storeroom area should be clear of clutter including cardboard, pallets, and rubbish.
- Works closely with A/P to achieve smooth invoice processing, resolving invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Performs all other duties assigned by the Director of Materials Management and/or MM Supervisor.
Required Skills
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- One year minimum OR Materials Management experience required.
- Customer Service
- Type minimum of 40 wpm preferred.
- Computer experience is helpful.
- Able to deal tactfully with public and other staff members.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
