Scripps Encinitas Surgery Center Business Office Float

Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Business Office Float is responsible for covering any aspect of the business office as necessary. Many duties includes, but are not limited to checking in patients, answering phones, scheduling, insurance verification, collecting patient fees, patient calls and chart building.

 

Successful candidate will possess outstanding multi-tasking abilities, communication and teamwork as well as the ability to keep up in a fast-paced working environment. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate previous successful/positive customer service encounters or programs and possess the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients, clinical co-workers, physicians’ offices and physicians.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Checks in patients for surgery
  • Under the supervision of the surgery scheduler and Clinical Director, works with physicians’ offices to schedule patient surgeries as needed
  • Requests medical records from referring physician as needed
  • Calculating and informing patients of amount due
  • Communicating with the Physicians and their offices
  • Ensures all required forms are placed in designated areas of the patient’s chart
  • Daily preparation of charts for next day's surgeries within required deadline 
  • Preparation of medical consents for each chart prepared
  • Knowledge of health care financing and Medical Collections a plus

  • Other duties as assigned

 Pay Range: $23.00 - $25.00 / Hour

Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.


Required Skills

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum 2-4 years of hospital or medical office experience required

- Must be able to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional way

- Ability to use time wisely in preparing work area to meet high-paced demand

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel and Word) a plus

- Show a genuine desire to work and improve the Center as a whole

- Extreme multi- tasker

- Strong medical terminology
