Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, the Scheduling Coordinator for the Operating Room is responsible for the scheduling of surgical procedures and general clerical work within the Department. This is a high-profile position that is key to the success of the surgery center. Candidate will enjoy positive interaction with both, physician offices and the clinical staff. Cross training for other Business Office positions a possibility. 

The Insurance Verification Specialists primary area of responsibility is verifying medical benefits, calculating estimated reimbursements, communicating to patients’ the financial responsibility and verifying authorization and referrals. Secondary responsibilities include providing back-up support for the Admissions Coordinator, Surgery Scheduling, collection of payments, telephone communications, medical record maintenance and other duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager.

 

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with one to two years of work experience in medical office, hospital or clinic office administration with experience in verification, patient services, scheduling, billing, coding or related fields.
  2. Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office.

3.      Ability to perform accurate arithmetic functions and must be comfortable working with percentages.

  1. Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills, and proper telephone etiquette. 
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures. Has a thorough understanding of the requirements of Medicare, Worker’s Compensation and third party payers as related to ASC reimbursement. 
  3. Must demonstrate the desire and ability to work productively within a Team concept while utilizing exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to independently interact with physicians, patients, family members and all levels of staff.
  4. Ability to think quickly and problem solve independently. 
  5. Maintains current BLS certification.
  6. Failure to maintain any required licenses, registrations or certifications may result in temporary or permanent disqualification from employment.

 

Pay Range: $19.00 - $25.00
