USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Katy is seeking a motivated Materials Manager to join our team. We have 4 OR rooms and 2 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Orthopedic, Plastic, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.

 

Job Summary: Responsible for the process, which includes inventory control: ordering all medical supplies, maintaining an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies, receiving and stocking of all medical supplies to their assigned area. Provides support to the surgical team and provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility. Communicates appropriate information to other team members. May have additional responsibilities designated by the Administrator, which may include, but are not limited to, providing patient care in other peri-operative departments, serving on committees, or participating in quality improvement projects.
 
 
Responsibilities:
Orders and maintains all medical inventory. Order miscellaneous supplies for center.
Performs Quarterly Inventory accounting.
When supplies arrive at the facility, checks in all supplies per invoice and purchase order, delivers all supplies to appropriate location, accounts for all back orders, and prepares required paperwork for Administrator.
Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals and objectives for peri-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.
Researches and obtains pricing / quotes for Medical equipment / supplies and products utilized in the facility. Maintains files and is familiar with all USPI procurement requirements necessary to acquire, inventory and dispose of medical equipment, supplies, or products for the facility.
Facilitates / expedites the receipt of damaged / broken medical equipment from patient use and coordinates / facilitates prompt repair / replacement for use in patient care or facility operations.
Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population. Completes all educational requirements assigned by USPI or Management in a timely fashion.
Responsible for Hazardous Materials / Hazardous Communication inventory and logs. Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids.
Responsible for the Medical Equipment Program: acquisition, maintenance, inventory and disposal. Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and development. Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique.
Responsible for Utility Management Program. Understands facility maintenance such as Oxygen, VaCUUm pumps, air filter exchanges and security alarms.
Works directly with Nurse Manager and Administrator and keeps them informed of applicable day-to-day situations.
Makes sure invoices are submitted to BOM within a timely manner, especially at month end when accruals are needed.
Performs other duties as may be appropriately required or assigned. Assist in the OR if needed to help cover.
Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
 
 
Employees will be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Two years minimum receiving and inventory experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Strong Customer Service Background
  • Strong math and counting skills required
  • Type minimum of 40 wpm preferred
  • Computer experience required (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel preferred)
  • Able to deal tactfully with public and other staff members
  • Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to deal with repetitive task
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, squat and lift heavy items above your head and shoulders
  • Ability to work in a clean and sterile environment
