Full- time- Pre-Op PACU RN

4 days a week, 10-hour shifts. No nights, weekends, or holidays!

 

St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced FT PACU RN to join our team. St. Mary's Ambulatory Surgery Center is a fast paced ASC environment committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families. Our center specializes in the surgical procedures: orthopedics, spine, podiatry, ENT, and ophthalmology.  The ideal candidate will have experience working with pediatric and adult patients. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus on PACU
  • Assess, instruct and prepare patients prior to surgery
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
  • Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
  • Assess patients’ post-operative condition
  • Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
  • Log and chart all findings in patient files
  • Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
  • Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
  • Primary focus on PACU

 

 Required Skills:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in VA
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 1-3 years' previous experience in Pre-OP and/or post-operative experience preferred
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
  • Must have current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification is ideal 
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
  • Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians.
