Develops and Provides clinical education and evaluation to the staff, and facilitates evidenced-based research within a specialized area of nursing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1.     Provides educational leadership to care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established clinical protocols.

2.     Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.

3.     Initiates clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.

4.     Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.

5.     Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

6.     Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

7.     Serves and/or leads committees as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1.     Must be graduate of accredited college or university.

2.     Registered professional nurse with current state licensure.

3.     Minimum of 5 years direct patient care experience is desired.

4.     Strong computer skills

5.     BLS, ACLS, and PALS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

1.     Will be required to lift patients frequently requiring the ability to lift 40 pounds.

2.     Must be able to exert at least 25 pounds of force to assist with patient transports.

3.     May require sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.

4.     Frequent standing, bending, and stooping involved.

5.     Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills.

6.     Dexterity: Frequent repetitive motion of hands/wrist involved.

7.     Will be working in a clean, well-lighted area.

8.     May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.

9.     Hazards and Risks: Direct patient contact with possible exposure to communicable diseases, exposure to radiation, anesthetic scavenger gases, and CRT.
