The Pharmacist – Outpatient shall supervise and perform all aspects concerning to the preparation and dispensing of medications while maintaining ethical and professional behavior to ensure efficient, timely distribution, and control of medication within the Outpatient Pharmacy setting. He/she shall also work with the Outpatient Pharmacy Team and be instrumental in training of pharmacy staff regarding department processes, policies, and protocols and act as the Pharmacist-on-Duty when the Pharmacist-in-Charge is not present. He/she shall serve as a medication information specialist by providing accurate information to patients and professional health care providers. He/she shall conduct ongoing assessments of patient medication therapy regimens when verifying a prescription in order to optimize patient outcomes and make recommendations to the prescriber and/or primary physician when deemed appropriate. He/she shall document any medication errors, adverse drug reactions (ADEs) and report them accordingly. He/she shall complete projects as assigned by Pharmacy Management adhering to deadlines set forth. He/she shall participate in meetings and provide in-services as assigned by Pharmacy Management. He/she shall provide ongoing assessments of pharmacy technicians specific to the retail setting. He/she shall maintain an ethical, professional behavior that ensures efficient, accurate, timely distribution and control of medications dispensed through the Outpatient Pharmacy and keep current on Federal and State regulations as they pertain to pharmacy in a retail setting. He/she shall reflect and maintain a positive attitude representing the pharmacy, as well as the entire hospital.

Required Skills
- Possess basic knowledge in pharmaceutical care and have the ability to apply them in an Outpatient Pharmacy retail setting.
- Possess the ability to critically think.
- Possess knowledge of policies governing the use of Controlled Substance, medication related polices/protocols, evidence of continuous professional training, excellent computer, verbal/written communications, and ability to prioritize is required.
Required Experience
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy, possesses a PharmD degree, and be a California Registered Pharmacist in good standing is required.
- Must have a current BCLS Healthcare Provider CPR Card from the American Heart Association.
- A minimum of two (2) years of working experience as a California Registered Pharmacist in a community/retail setting and experience with pharmacy systems/processes.
Preferred:
- Completion of a residency and/or advanced certification in a pharmacy specialty area
- Experience using Microsoft applications and the Pharmacy application FSI
