Shift: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: 1200 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA. Hybrid 2 days a week on-site

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
This entry level role focuses on the creation of visuals design deliverables for print, web, and social creative, including but not limited to layouts, type, illustration, photography, email templates, web graphics, graphical user interfaces (“UI”) and digital ads using various print and web design techniques.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic and Digital Design
• Create/redesign print or web/digital marketing collateral using basic design skills including successful creation of readable pages with clear entry points, visual hierarchy and balance, logical page structure, typographic relationships, and color balance to produce comprehensive layout concepts.
• Develop designs and concept ideas that graphically communicate the positioning of each brand and messaging requirements while following the agency brand standards.
• Generate and execute designs based on principles from usability, visual design, and interface design principles.
• Produce multiple competing projects from concept through final production artwork simultaneously in a fast-paced environment within production scheduled timeframes and within budget constraints.
• Design and produce print media, HTML emails, brochures, web banners, web page designs, conference material, signage, and miscellaneous marketing and promotional material.
• Possess a basic understanding of HTML/CSS and be able to design in digital formats so the creative integrity is upheld in a responsive state.
• Understand and adhere to branding/rebranding strategies and work within established multi-media style guide.
• Understand and adhere to established page layout, publication nuance and branding.
• Adhere to established processes (including workflow, schedules, team communications, and following basic budget guidelines)
• Accompany team to meet with business units to understand their needs and to participate in the direction, concept and specifications of assigned projects.
• Research relevant photos from approved online stock photography and arrange photos, type, illustrations and color.
• Collaborate with content writers on blending copy with design.
• Collaborate with DTS staff to support the development of digital designs into coded assets.
• Maintain expertise on industry software, web technology trends and changing graphic design.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in relevant customer research studies that will impact design initiatives.
• Remain current on industry specific knowledge.
• Participate with in-house photography utilizing a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera.
• Comply with the Agency’s enterprise security and privacy policies and departmental procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Associates degree in graphic design with zero to three years relevant experience with graphic and web design, preferable working in a corporate environment or any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or certification(s).
• Demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite software – InDesign Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of Sketch for creating digital designs and prototypes.
• Basic understanding of how coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript work.
• Basic understanding of UX/UI design principles.
• Must possess an acute attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of the full capabilities of internal print shop and to understand impact of process/design improvements/changes.
• Demonstrated ability to tag PDF files using software tools such as Adobe.
• Knowledge of both print and digital media design.
• Working knowledge of 4/C process printing, electronic based media applications and execution.
• Ability to present concepts and support rationale behind given design solutions, positively and articulately within the team.
• Strong service orientation with a commitment to producing high quality results within strict deadlines.
• Must have strong time management skills and the ability to handle numerous concurrent tasks/projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications: Bachelors degree in graphic design, web design, fine arts or related discipline with zero to three years of experience. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite.

• Perform work required for this position in an office environment and/or via remote or hybrid arrangement.
• Remain sedentary for significant periods of time using a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional travel.
• Must be able to use a Mac computer.
• Must be able to communicate both written and verbal.
• Ability to speak in front of groups of people to present and explain ideas.
