As the Assistant Chief of Operations and Health & Safety, you’ll provide Operation and Health and Safety support to all Fire and Emergency Services (FES) and other personnel on military base. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Develop, execute, and maintain, as required, procedures in compliance with local policy that protect the health and safety of employees and the community and that minimize or eliminate the risk of environmental pollution.
· Conduct quality and safety inspections/audits of contract operations and subcontractors.
· Investigate mishaps and injuries.
· Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and disseminate safety-related bulletins, technical changes and literature to work site personnel.
· Provide guidance and direction to achieve compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards.
· Develop, implement, monitor and train on safety-related training programs provided by the Environmental, Safety and Health Office, including Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Fall protection, Machine Guarding, Confined Space Entry, Construction Site Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, and Asbestos Awareness.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Must have the following certifications:
o Fire Instructor III
o Fire Officer III
o Fire Inspector II
o Hazardous Materials Incident Commander
o Airport Fire Fighter
· Must have a minimum of two-year experience at that duty position.
· Training must be accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Professional Qualification System (NPQS). IFSAC or NPQS seals on the training certificates provide evidence of IFSAC or NPQS accreditation or foreign nation equivalent.
· Must be medically cleared to wear a SCBA mask PRIOR to arrival at AAAF.
· Shall have and maintain a current CPR card issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
· Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Able to work a shift of twenty-four (24) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
· This position will be exposed to products of fire to include heat, smoke, toxic fumes, and gasses.
· Basic physical requirements include walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing, running, and lifting to 100 pounds.
· Must be able to perform job tasks at any place on the Aerial Ladder from minimal extension to full extension.
· Must be able to perform assigned duties while wearing a self-contained-breathing-apparatus (SCBA), with minimal loss of effectiveness and efficiency.
· Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

· Valid US Passport (preferred)
· US Drivers License with Clean Driving Report
