As a Lead Firefighter, you’ll be assigned to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Operations and assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards and reacting to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials as a first responder to protect persons, property, or the environment.

Candidates should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN). 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis
• Drives to the scene of the fire following a predetermined route or selecting an alternate when necessary and positions vehicle considering factors, such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, etc
• Operates pumps, foam generators, and other similar equipment
• Determines proper pressures, the number of lines, and relays requirements to the booster pumper
• Maintains constant awareness of levels in self-contained breathing apparatus and warns other firefighters when tanks are close to empty
• Assists in training other firefighters on driving vehicles and operating equipment
• Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multi-storied buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities
• Performs rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility
• Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities and complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures performing work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

·        

• 5 Years of experience within all phases of fire department operations, i.e. structural, crash/fire/rescue, hazardous material and Basic Life Support medical services.

• Personnel must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and an Emergency Vehicle Operators certification.
  • Must have and be able to maintain the following Firefighter Certifications:

  o      Firefighter II (includes Firefighter I)

  o      HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Materials Awareness, HAZMAT Materials Operations, HZMAT Materials Technician

  o      Airport Firefighter

  o      Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper

  o      ARFF and Aerial

  ·       Must maintain current Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (CPR and AED) card and valid National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic license. 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• The position is subject to immediate recall and extended shifts during emergencies.
• This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
• Employee is required to report for duty during Natural Disasters or such emergency situations.
