As the Fire Inspector, you will plan, organize, and conduct fire prevention activities throughout the air base to include fire inspections, fire investigations, public education, plan reviews, and fire protection system acceptance inspections. Assist, implements, and manages the Fire Prevention Program to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement, US Airforce Regulation, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), ASG-KU policies, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
Candidates should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts inspections and maintains documentation of all facility fire inspections.
- Performs plan reviews to ensure fire protection systems are IAW with Air Force-KU policies and UFC’s guidance.
- Participates and maintains the fire extinguisher exchange program for facilities.
- Conducts Facility Manager, Fire Warden and other fire prevention training.
- Works conducts final acceptance inspections on new construction, and renovation projects.
- Maintains appropriate documentation on the inspection and testing of wet pipe sprinkler systems
- Participate in Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) programs.
- Helps formulate long range goals related protection of personnel, facilities, materials, and equipment.
- Assists with fire investigations as required
Education & Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience as a fire inspector
- Five (5) years of fire inspector experience as a Fire Prevention Specialist, US Military, DOD, or civilian is preferred.
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
Licenses and Certifications:
- Fire Investigator and/or Plans Reviewer (highly desirable)
- Fire Inspector II
- Fire Officer I
- Fire Instructor I
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must have knowledge of occupancy classification types, the fire hazards present in various occupancies, and the occupant load factors relating to various occupancy classifications.
- Knowledge of fire department mission and organization; safety requirements and objectives; fire alarm and communications; fire behavior; portable fire extinguishers; personal protective clothing and equipment, water supplies and sprinklers; hazardous materials; fire prevention and public fire education; and fire cause determination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
