Position Details
Stewards Individual Placements (SIP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.
SIP in partnership with the National Park Service are seeking TWO AmeriCorps members who will support resource management projects at Padre Island National Seashore. The AmeriCorps members will help document and remove of marine debris, document and treat invasive vegetation, conduct wildlife and vegetation surveys, collect water quality measurements, and support habitat restoration. Resource Management Stewards may also assist with surveying of archaeological sites and cataloging/cleaning artifacts.
Position Responsibilities will include:
Completion of resource management projects at Padre Island National Seashore. Tasks may include documentation and removal of marine debris, documentation and treatment of invasive vegetation, wildlife and vegetation surveys, water quality measurements, habitat restoration, and related natural resource management actions. Interns may also assist with surveying archaeological sites and cleaning, cataloging, and housing artifacts in the park's museum collection.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 60 credit hours of undergraduate education, with 24 credit hours focusing on resource management fields
- Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check (must be at least 21 years old or have had a license for 3 years)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in resource management field
- One year of experience with resource management field work
