Position Details

Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.

SIPP in partnership with the National Park Service Fort Larned National Historic Site are seeking an AmeriCorps member who will serve on the park historic preservation team. Preservation teams performed preservation maintenance and treatment repairs on ten historic structures in the park in a variety of trade skills. Participant will develop skills in masonry pointing, flat wall plastering, wood repairs to windows and doors, glazing, wood shingle roof repairs and painting.

 

Position Responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in park safety program
  • Strong work ethic
  • Physical stamina to perform work
  • Valid State Driver license
  • Willingness to learn

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education requirements High School Diploma or GED equivalent?
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and use
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 by the first day of employment and ability to provide proof of vaccination before starting

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Carpentry, Masonry or other trade skills knowledge and skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and use
  • Follow oral and written instructions
