POSTED JOB TITLE: Student Success Coach/Academic Advisor, Student Enrichment Center A1208H
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Student Success Coach & Academic Advisor provides comprehensive support to students at Cameron University. This position delivers integrated academic coaching and advising assistance to support students through enrollment, persistence, and completion. The advising responsibilities include providing individualized academic counseling on placement, course selection, major exploration, and academic performance to undeclared students.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide individualized academic coaching support to students.
- Maintain regular communication with assigned students and connecting them to appropriate campus resources and support services.
- Evaluate student’s eligibility for coursework using test scores, prior coursework, and institutional requirements.
- Advise students on course selection, degree exploration, and academic pathways.
- Assist students with course schedule development and enrollment, including adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses in accordance with academic policies and deadlines.
- Interpret degree plans and utilize advising tools to help guide students in major exploration.
- Document coaching and advising interactions, maintain accurate student records, and conduct proactive outreach to support retention and re-enrollment efforts.
- Participate in weekly meetings with Student Enrichment Center and Academic Advising Center’s personnel.
- Participate in data collection activities as appropriate.
SUPERVISION:
The position reports to the Director of the Student Enrichment Center
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree with two years relevant experience.
· University or college level academic coaching and advising experience.
· Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively support diverse student populations.
- Ability to interpret and explain academic information in a clear, student-centered manner.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in navigating student-specific academic situations.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a student-facing, service-oriented environment.
- Proficient with standard office and digital tools (Microsoft Office including Outlook, Adobe Suite and other applicable platforms) and comfort working in electronic environments, virtual communications, and social media.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master's Degree
· Two or more years’ experience working with college students in academic advising.
· Previous experience working with diverse student populations.
· Previous experience working with teams devoted to student success.
SALARY: $34,500.00
